Adam Levine: People think that I keep pooh-poohing marriage, but I love it

Adam Levine

I have a brief confession to make — even after covering several Adam Levine stories on this site, I’d never really listened to a Maroon 5 song. However and since a nameless source (who shall not be humiliated) once described Levine’s musical style to me as “sexy, skinny rocker boy,” I just assumed his stuff was at least as “rock ‘n’ roll” as 30 Seconds to Mars (which isn’t saying much, but still). Wrong.

Curiousity got the better of me not too long ago, and after finally performing a YouTube search I realized that Adam Levine is directly responsible for this terribly annoying song (“One More Night”) that plays at the gym on near-constant rotation as well as this particular song (“Moves Like Jagger”) that rocks slightly bit harder as far as pop music goes. Now I realize that Adam Levine isn’t a “rock star” at all, and I’m on to all of you who believe otherwise.

But back to the gossip grind. Levine is a known modelizer who recently made the big switch from VS to SI models, and that’s okay. I don’t begrudge him getting some fly tail if the girls are willing. He even seemed rather lucid about his preferences and eternal bachelorhood while telling Nylon Guys “If you don’t get married, you can’t get divorced.” Now Levine has sat down with Oprah to promote The Voice, and he has suddenly changed his tune by admitting that he does eventually want to settle down and get married. What has possessed him to feel this way? He’s inspired by Blake Shelton’s inevitable disaster of a marriage to Miranda Lambert. Oh boy:

Marriage is not out of the question for Adam Levine just yet. In a new interview on Oprah’s Next Chapter that airs Sunday, June 2, the Maroon 5 frontman opened up about his rockstar lifestyle and his plans to settle down.

Joined by his fellow Voice mentor and friend, Blake Shelton, the 33-year old revealed that marriage is on his radar — especially while seeing how successful Shelton’s two-year marriage is to his singer wife, Miranda Lambert.

“Hearing Blake talk about [marriage], it’s great,” he explained. “I’m a fan of marriage. People think that I keep pooh-poohing marriage, but I love it.”

In fact, the “Love Somebody” singer says he hopes to tie the knot in the future.

“I want to probably be married at some point,” he said, noting that he’s not in a big rush.

He continued, “I don’t feel pressure to get married. I think that when it’s time, it’s going to be obvious and I’m going to do it and I’m going to really enjoy it.”

I can only imagine that Levine is either deluded into thinking that Blake and Miranda really do have a great marriage, or Levine wants to model himself after the dude who quasi-reassuringly lets his wife snoop his phone but keeps another phone nearby for booty calls. Yep, the latter is definitely the case.
